The black eared catfish is similar in appearance to the Chao Phraya catfish with filamentous strands on the pectoral and dorsal fins. However, it is much smaller in size and is easily identifiable by the dark spot above the pectoral fin.
While we regularly see these voracious little predators topping in the lake, they have yet to be caught: mainly as they are not fished for. Smaller deadbaits or pieces of fish ledgered in the deeper areas of the lakes would be our recommended way of going about fishing for them.
