Welcome to the first of our weekly catch reports and round-ups. Our intention with these blogs is to add a little more detail to the posts that some of you will see on our facebook page and also give those of you that might not use social media an opportunity to stay up to date with what’s been coming out. In addition to these weekly catch reports, we’ll also be blogging on a weekly topic of interest: if there’s a topic you’d like us to cover or something you’d like to ask or get advice on then please let us know through the comment/post a reply button below. Enjoy, and thank you for reading.
FIRST EVER SIAMESE CARP FOR GLENN
Putting a smile on someone’s face. Giving someone a memory they’ll never forget. Inspiring the next generation. There can be no better feeling as a fishery owner than seeing your guests and customers experience these emotions. This week has been no exception. Glenn and Adrian had already fished with us a couple of times in the previous weeks and while Glenn was the more experienced angler, the fish just seemed to love Adrian. After losing several fish on his carp rods and handing over the cash again to Adrian, Glenn let it slip that he’d never caught a siamese carp: that was a challenge we couldn’t refuse, so while Adrian slept off his Grey Goose hangover, Glenn joined us for a proper crack at our big carp and after a couple of hours latched into his first ever Siamese.
10 YR OLD MILLA LANDS ALLIGATOR GAR AND SIAMESE CARP
It was also great to see young Finnish angler Milla and her dad Simo here. While her dad was busy targeting the big arapaima, 10 year old Milla fished the margins with her own rod and waggler float and pulled out over 20 silver barb (pla tapian) – most of which were munched by the arapaima except for one which was taken by an alligator gar that Milla played and brought in herself. Not content with that, Milla really displayed her great angling technique by striking into a great fish that couldn’t resist her bread and poly ball bait and after a tense 25 minute battle and with darkness falling landed a beautiful siamese carp – a memory she will never forget.
GREAT ARAPAIMA FOR RYAN
Fresh from winning the Thailand Kawasaki Road Racing Championship, Ben Fortt brought Ryan along to the lake to experience our big fish and he wasn’t disappointed landing a nice siamese carp and leaving it late to eventually bring in one of our stunningly coloured super red arapaima that took his ledgered mackerel deadbait from swim.
….AND FINALLY….RON GETS “HOOKED” BY SALA THE ARAPAIMA
Unluckiest angler of the week has to be regular and good friend, Ron. Using a tapian livebait under a float in swim1, he thought he’d hooked up our biggest arapaima Sala only for the 2.4m beast to nonchalantly shake his head and throw the hook. If anyone was in any doubt as to the power these fish have then poor old Ron’s hook is testament to what they can do. Ron summed it up nicely: that’s fishing.
